Broadlands Marketplace Restaurant Makes List by Washingtonian Magazine
One of Broadlands Marketplace newest restaurants, American Flatbread,
was just rated in this months Washingtonian Magazine as one of
their Top 100 Best Bargain Restaurants. They are one of only 3
restaurants in all of Loudon County to have achieved this distinction.
American Flatbread is a Vermont-based pizzeria franchise that specializes
in all natural pizza baked in a wood fried oven. Virtually all of
the produce and most of the meat come from nearby farms, and the
place almost descends into preachy earnestness in touting this message.
The pies are worth the fuss. The marvelously hillocked crusts - cooked
in an earthenware oven in the center of the room - have the right
amount of chew and crispness, plus a welcome bit of char on the underside.
Toppings are thoughtfully deployed, melding into a unified whole.
The atmosphere is casual and kid friendly with pizza prices ranging
from $11-$19. Best dishes are Pizza with pesto, Swiss chard, goat
cheese and shrimp; and New Virginia Sausage pie.
